What: Würstbar Grand Opening
When: Friday, August 19 at 4pm
Where: 516 Jersey Avenue
Jersey City Eats reports that Würstbar is opening Friday night. The bar had a soft opening earlier this week and states on its website that it will officially open on Friday, August 19. You can take a look at the bar’s food menu here.

What: Planks for the Park
When: Saturday, August 20 from 9am – 10am
Where: Liberty State Park North Field (near 9/11 memorial)
Planks for the Park is a fundraising event looking to raise $10k for Friends of Liberty State Park, which will use the funds to plant trees and gardens throughout the park. All you have to do is tighten your core and make it through the 1-hour event. The plan is to plank for 1 minute and rest for 1 minute for the duration of an hour.

Get ready to shop vintage, antiques, food, and more at this family-friendly outdoor market. Enjoy protein-packed eats from House of Gains, spiked popsicles from Cholita Paletas, music from Bash & Pop Records, and vintage crafts from Ironbound Vintage, among many more.

What: Dog Days of Summer Dog Festival
When: Saturday, August 20 from 12pm – 3pm
Where: Liberty Harbor at 333 Grand Street
Bring your 4-legged friends to Liberty Harbor’s Dog Days of Summer pup event. The fundraiser/adoption will include a variety of pup-friendly vendors and service providers. Plus, there will be dog wading pools, dog photo sessions, and more. Vendors will include Rebecca Ferrier Photography, See Spot Rescued, MetroVet, Club Barks, and K9dergarten, among many more. All proceeds from the activities will go to the Friends of Liberty State Park non-profit.

What: 2nd Annual Hudson Pride Bar Crawl
When: Saturday, August 20 from 5pm – 2am
Where: Begins at The Citizen at 332 Second Street
The 2nd Annual Hudson Pride Bar Crawl is a charity event to benefit the Hudson Pride Connection Center. The crawl starts at The Citizen and includes stops at Lucky 7, Porto, LITM, and The Pint. Drink specials, food, and raffles will be offered at each stop. There is a suggested $10 donation.

What: 3rd Annual Disco Night with Jersey City Ballroom
When: Saturday, August 20 from 7pm – 10.30pm
Where: Van Vorst Park
Electric Boogie your way to Van Vorst Park for the 3rd Annual Disco Night — an evening of 70s disco classics, played by DJ Marvilous. The event is free for all to attend and includes a dance lesson from Jersey City Ballroom (7.45pm to 8.30pm). A disco trophy will be given to the grooviest dancer at the end of the night.

What: 2nd Annual Jersey City Triathlon
When: Sunday, August 21 from 7.05am (Olympic); 7.20am (Sprint)
Where: 1 Exchange Place
Swim, bike, and run through downtown Jersey City during the 2nd annual Jersey City Triathlon. The race is divided into “sprint” (0.5-mile swim, 14-mile bike, 3.1-mile run) and “Olympic” (1-mile swim, 23-mile bike, 6.2-mile run) courses for newbies and seasoned vets, respectively. The swim is in a protected alcove in the Hudson River, followed by a cycling course throughout downtown Jersey City, and a run along the waterfront. Admission fees (you can still register if you’re the spontaneous type) are $150 for the sprint course and $170 for the Olympic course. Alternatively, you can just come and cheer people on. A part of the proceeds will go to the Jersey City Youth Foundation

What: 5th Annual Riverview Farmers Market Perfect Peach Pie Contest
When: Sunday, August 21 from 10.30am – 2pm
Where: Riverview-Fisk Park (Palisade Avenue btw Bowers & Griffith)
There’s still time to enter the 5th annual Riverview Farmers Market Peach Pie Contest. Entries must be registered by 11.30am on Sunday (on-site registration is allowed; amateur bakers only). Judging begins at noon. In addition to the contest, there will be music, kids’ activities, peach-themed treats from local vendors, and more.

When: Sunday, August 21 from 11am – 5pm
Where: Harborside Plaza 4 at Columbus Drive & Hudson Street
6th Borough Market is an outdoor market featuring a variety of local crafts and food. Located steps away from the PATH Exchange Place station, the market is free, family-friendly, and open every 1st and 3rd Sunday through October.
