After last year’s cancellation, the Jersey City Pride festival is back. From Saturday’s Pride parade along Newark Avenue to the Hudson Folk Festival — here’s everything that’s happening in Jersey City this weekend.
Friday Events
What: Jersey City Pierfest at Exchange Place
When: Friday, August 20 from 6pm to 9pm
Where: J. Owen Grundy Pier
Pierfest is a celebration of summer, music, and Jersey City. The free, outdoor festival will feature two stages of world-class Latin jazz, dance instruction, and food trucks. Pierfest will run every Friday in August from 6pm to 9pm. This Friday will feature the Gabriel Chakarji Trio.

What: Corgi Spirits Jam Session
When: Friday, August 20 from 7pm to 10pm
Where: 1 Distillery Drive
Regina & the Jamsauce Band will perform at Corgi Spirits tonight. Famous for their mashups and new interpretations of classic and modern music, Jamsauce puts on a show and hosts a fun and unique jam session. Admission is free.

What: Drive-In Movie Night (The Blind Side)
When: Friday, August 20 at 7:15pm
Where: 107 Morgan Street (parking lot adjacent to CoolVines Powerhouse)
The Exchange Place Alliance is hosting another drive-in movie night. Friday’s film will be The Blind Side. Admission is $20 per car (no limit to how many people are in the car) or for those without a car it’s $10 per person. Gates will close at 8pm and no entry will be allowed after that time.

What: Movies in the Park: Cool Runnings
When: Friday, August 20 at sunset
Where: Triangle Park (247 Old Bergen Rd)
Movies in the Park returns this week with a free screening of Disney’s Cool Runnings. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. The movie starts at sunset.

Saturday Events
What: Smorgasburg Jersey City
When: Saturday, August 21 from 11am to 6pm
Where: 195 Hudson
Smorgasburg is back at Harborside for another weekend of eats. The outdoor market will offer food from numerous vendors including C Bao, Carlitos Barbecue Taqueria, D’Abruzzo, and Duck Season. The market will operate every Saturday through October. Admission is free and there will be various outdoor dining options throughout Harborside.

What: 20th Annual Jersey City Pride Festival
When: Saturday, August 21 from 1pm to 9pm
Where: Pedestrian Plaza (Grove to Erie)
The Jersey City Pride Festival is a celebration of love and diversity. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the festival will be located along the Grove PATH Plaza and Newark Avenue (between Grove and Erie). There will also be a Pride parade on Newark Avenue at 1pm. After-parties at various bars and restaurants will run through the night at The Pint and Six26. (You can see all the events here).

What: Nimbus Arts: Hudson Folk Festival
When: Saturday, August 21 from 7pm
Where: 107 Morgan Street
In partnership with the Hudson West Folk Festival, Nimbus Arts Nimbus Arts presents an evening of traditional blue grass, blues, and soulful folk music during the Hudson Folk Festival. General admission starts at $5/pp.

What: The Cottage Weekend Jazz Trio
When: Saturdays & Sundays from 12pm to 3pm
Where: 136 Monticello Avenue
The Cottage Jersey City is hosting live musical performances every weekend. The socially distanced event is held in The Cottage’s outdoor patio. As a reminder, The Cottage is BYOB (and they offer killer pastries and brunch sandwiches).

Sunday Events
What: Corgi Spirits Drag Bingo
When: Sunday, August 22 from 3pm to 6pm
Where: 1 Distillery Drive
Harmonica Sunbeam will be hosting 6 drag bingo games at Corgi Spirits today. The first three are regular games, the next two games increase in difficulty, and the final game is a full board. Prizes will be given out to the winner of each round. The event will be held outdoors at Corgi’s patio.

What: Movie Night at Dullboy
When: Sunday, August 22 at 8pm
Where: 364 Grove Street
