Things are starting to feel somewhat normal again in Jersey City. From a Mural Fest to movie screenings at Loew’s, here’s everything that’s happening in Jersey City this weekend.
Friday Events
What: National Donut Day at The LoDG
When: Friday, June 4
Where: 7 Bleecker Street
The LoDG is celebrating National Donut Day with surprise flavors and free donuts. For every three donuts you buy, your fourth donut is free. Make sure to follow their Insta throughout the day for details on the new donut flavors.

What: Groove on Grove Summer Edition
When: Friday, June 4 from 3pm to 10pm
Where: Grove Plaza
The Groove on Grove concert series is back with its first in-person show of the season. The show kicks off at 3pm at Grove Plaza (outside the Grove PATH station). Performers include Anthony Fulscado Trio (5pm), Segunda Quimbamba (6pm), Supermutt (7pm), and The Defending Champions (8pm). It’ll be held in conjunction with the Artist & Maker Market, also held at Grove Plaza.

What: Ed & Mary’s Art Competition
When: Friday, June 4 at 4pm
Where: 174 Coles Street
Neighborhood eatery Ed & Mary’s is hosting an art competition with a $100 cash prize. Contestants (whom have already been picked) will get baskets of art supplies and have 20 minutes to create art. The event is a part of Art House Production’s JC Fridays.

What: JC Fridays Art Shows
When: Friday, June 4 from 6pm to 9pm
Where: throughout Jersey City
JC Fridays is a quarterly arts festival with various events happening throughout Jersey City. Events include pop-up art shows, live musical performances, art galleries, and more. You can check out the full list of events here.

What: Drive-In Movie Night (Lion King)
When: Friday, June 4 at 7:15pm
Where: 107 Morgan Street (parking lot adjacent to CoolVines Powerhouse)
The Exchange Place Alliance, JC Families, and Ward E councilman James Solomon are teaming up for another drive-in movie night. Friday’s film will be Disney’s The Lion King (2019). Admission is $20 per car and reservations are required. Gates will close at 8pm and no entry will be allowed after that time. (This was originally slated for May 28, but inclement weather moved it to June 4).

What: Light Up The Loop Bike Ride
When: Friday, June 4 from 8pm
Where: Grove Plaza
Bike JC is hosting a special bike ride that will travel across both sides of the waterfront. Ride from Grove to Exchange Place, where riders will take the NY Waterway to Battery Park. Then ride from Battery Park to 39th Street, where riders will once again take the ferry to Weehawken. Then bike your way back down to Jersey City. The ride is free, but you’ll have to pay your own ferry tickets. The 3-hour ride will begin at Grove Plaza (although there will be other meet-up spots should you want to join in at a later point).

Saturday Events
What: Smorgasburg Jersey City
When: Saturday, June 5 from 11am to 6pm
Where: 195 Hudson
Brooklyn-based food market Smorgasburg is back in New Jersey for another weekend of eats. The outdoor market will offer food from numerous vendors including Big Mozz, Bisska, C Bao, Carlitos Barbecue Taqueria, D’Abruzzo, and Duck Season. The market will operate every Saturday through October. Admission is free and there will be various outdoor dining options throughout Harborside.

What: JC Mural Fest Weekend
When: June 5 & June 6
Where: throughout the city
The Jersey City Mural Festival will celebrate over 30 current murals located throughout the city. Select mural locations (there are two main ones and three additional locations on this map) will have food trucks, music, and more. In addition, the festival will spotlight new murals by over 50 local and international artists. The highlight of the festival will be a new mural at 581 Monmouth Street by Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya. Main locations include 12th street and Monmouth and near Canco Park on Dey and Senate. Various food vendors will be at both locations including El Chilango, Mozzarepas, Modcup, La Coqueta, and more.

What: The Cottage Weekend Jazz Trio
When: Saturdays & Sundays from 2:30pm to 6pm
Where: 136 Monticello Avenue
The Cottage Jersey City is hosting live musical performances every weekend. (Note, they recently tweaked the time so the music starts and finishes later in the day). The socially distanced event is held in The Cottage’s outdoor patio. As a reminder, The Cottage is BYOB (and they offer killer pastries and brunch sandwiches).

What: Loew’s Theater Movie Night
When: Saturday, June 5 from 6pm
Where: 54 Journal Square
The Loew’s Theater will screen American Graffiti tonight at 6pm. It’ll be followed by a screening of Jaws. Tickets are $8 per show or $14 for the double feature. Seats are limited due to the pandemic and social distancing.

Sunday Events
What: Movie Night at Dullboy
When: Sunday, June 6 at 6pm + 8pm
Where: 364 Grove Street
Every Sunday night, Dullboy will be screening a movie in its heated patio. The first showing is at 6pm followed by a second showing at 8pm. Make sure to give them a follow on Instagram to find out what movie they’ll show.
