Tis the season for holiday pop-ups. There will be plenty of opportunities to shop local this weekend with holiday-themed pop-ups at Sure Things in the Heights and Grove Plaza/The Ashford. Plus, enjoy some tournament-style gaming at Corgi Spirits’ first Sip & Play.
Recently Opened:
Newport Skates: The Newport Skates outdoor ice skating rink is now open for the 2021/2022 season. Admission is $8 (Newport residents pay half price) and skate rentals are $7/pp.
Golden Cicada: The much-loved tavern is back, albeit under different ownership. The Golden Cicada Baja Beer Garden has reopened as a Mexican-inspired eatery operated by the team behind The Cliff.

Zeppelin Hall is heating things up with the return of its chili festival. Through January 1, the biergarten will offer a special chili fest menu featuring over 11 different types of chili.

Where: 1 Distillery Drive
Nothing pairs better than cocktails and Mario. Head to Corgi Spirits to get a taste of both during the distillery’s first Sip & Play event. Play tournament-style games against friends or strangers on the GameCube and N64 consoles. Admission is $5/pp.

Meet your fellow streamers and gamers at the Super Smash Bros. Tourney hosted by Sip Studios. You can watch for free or pay $10 to enter the tourney. The winner will receive a special prize.

Holiday pop-up Miracle on Mercer is hosting a coat and socks drive benefiting Garden State Rainbow Sports and Hudson Pride Center. Simply bring a new or gently used coat and/or new socks to the restaurant and Miracle on Mercer will handle the rest. And while you’re there, enjoy holiday brunch and cocktails.

The JC Artist Maker Market is throwing a holiday pop-up at Grove Plaza and the rooftop at The Ashford this weekend and next. Combined, there will be over 200 vendors to shop from. Local vendors will include Rudo Plants (potted plants/flowers), Tara Kothari Studio (pottery/design), Rachel’s Knit Knacks (arts & crafts), Nook & Fern (handmade goods), and more.
