The last weekend of September is here and there’s a lot to do in Jersey City. Check out the return of the JC Jazz Fest or enjoy some barbecue at the 11th annual Hamilton Park BBQ Fest. Plus, the Festival of Colors kicks off on Saturday with a march along the waterfront to neighboring Hoboken.

Meet at City Hall and walk along waterfront
The Holi Hai Festival of Colors is returning to Jersey City this weekend. Local non-profit Surati for Performing Arts is organizing the festival, which celebrates Jersey City’s diversity. The all-day event will kick off on in front of City Hall and will include live performances and yoga. Attendees will then walk to Pier A Park in Hoboken via the waterfront. Tickets are $25/pp.

Where:
189 Brunswick Street (3rd Fl.)
The JC Ballroom Dance Congress is an all-day event featuring dance workshops, live performances, a dance social, and more. Tickets start at $15/pp.

Riverview Park
Start your weekend with a stroll through the Riverview Flea Market. The market will include local vendors, crafts, and more.

What: Smorgasburg Jersey City
When: Saturday, September 25 from 11am to 6pm
Where: 195 Hudson
Smorgasburg is back at Harborside for another weekend of eats. The outdoor market will offer food from numerous vendors including Cake Jars, Salt & Seed, Carlitos Barbecue Taqueria, D’Abruzzo, and more. The market will operate every Saturday through October. Admission is free and there will be various outdoor dining options throughout Harborside.

What: The Cottage Weekend Jazz Trio
When: Saturdays from 12pm to 3pm
Where: 136 Monticello Avenue
The Cottage Jersey City is hosting live musical performances every weekend. (Note, they recently tweaked the time so the music starts and finishes later in the day). The socially distanced event is held in The Cottage’s outdoor patio. As a reminder, The Cottage is BYOB (and they offer killer pastries and brunch sandwiches).

What: Jersey City Jazz Festival by Riverview Jazz 2021
When: Saturday, September 25 from 12pm to 7pm
Where: 107 Morgan Street (parking lot adjacent to CoolVines Powerhouse)
The Jersey City Jazz Festival is an all-day party celebrating music and jazz throughout Jersey City. It’s run by Riverview Jazz, a non-profit that produces free shows for the city. This year the festival will feature 8 bands, food trucks, a beer garden, picnic area, and more. You can check out the full line up at www.jerseycityjazzfestival.com.

What: 11th Annual Hamilton Park BBQ Festival
When: Saturday, September 8 from 12pm to 8pm
Where: Hamilton Park
Back for its 11th year, the Hamilton Park BBQ Festival is a day-long party showcasing the area’s best barbecue eats. The event will include live music, local vendors, food, and more.

What: McGinley Square Live Music Series
When: Saturday, September 25 from 1pm to 5pm
Where: Intersection of Bergen Avenue & Montgomery
The McGinley Square Live Music Series kicks off this weekend with a free, outdoor performance by Matt Panayides. The free concerts will take place the last Saturday of every month. Performing this weekend will be Mariachi Los Angeles.

What: Latin American Music Series by Nimbus Arts
When: Sunday, September 26 at 1pm
Where: 107 Morgan Street (parking lot adjacent to CoolVines Powerhouse)
Nimbus Arts is celebrating Hispanic Heritage month with Musica y Ritmos, a Latin American Music Series spotlighting Jersey City’s Latin American musicians. The event will include dance and music workshops, visual arts, and food trucks. Plus, there will be performances by Segunda Quimbamba and Gabriel Alegría Afro-Peruvian Sextet. Gates open at 1pm and admission starts at $5/pp.

What: Movie Night at Dullboy
When: Sunday, September 26 at 8pm
Where: 364 Grove Street
Every Sunday night, Dullboy will be screening a movie in its patio. The movie will begin at 8pm. Make sure to give them a follow on Instagram to find out what movie they’ll show.
