From the Newport Half Marathon to the Hudson West Folk Fest, here’s a look at what’s happening in Jersey City on this first weekend of fall.

Oktoberfest is back at Zeppelin Hall. Through Sunday, October 15, you can order a variety of German beers, brats, pretzels, and more.

What: Maddy Rose Espresso Martini Cocktail Class
When: Thursday, September 21 from 7pm to 9pm
Where: 76 Audrey Zapp Drive
Maddy Rose is a new Mediterranean-inspired restaurant at Liberty House. The restaurant is hosting an espresso martini cocktail making class. You’ll learn how to expertly craft three different types of espresso martinis using a variety of liquors and flavors — paired with a selection of sweet treats and charcuterie. Admission is $60/pp (Landmark Club members pay $48/pp).

What: Ko Cafe: Monthly Live Music
When: Thursday, September 21 from 7pm
Where: 722 Grand
Live music returns to Ko Cafe tonight. Grab a cup of coffee, wine, or pastry and support your local performers. A recommended donation of $15/pp is appreciated.

What: Rory D’Lasnow at Fox & Crow
When: Thursday, September 21 from 8pm to 10pm
Where: 594 Palisade Avenue
NJ.com called Rory D’Lasnow a “golden-voiced troubadour” and one of the “32 N.J. bands and artists you need to hear in 2022.” He’ll perform tonight at Fox & Crow. Admission is $10/pp.

Friday Events
What: 5th Annual Pierfest by Exchange Place Alliance
When: Friday, September 22 from 6pm to 9pm
Where: J. Owen Grundy Park
The Exchange Place Alliance is hosting the 5th annual Pierfest. The event features world-class Latin jazz, dance instruction, and food. It’ll be held every Friday through September 29. Tonight the show will feature Luisito Quintero y su 3rd Element (6:15pm) and Jimmy Bosch (7:45pm).

What: Cigar and Whiskey Social at The Stork Club
When: Friday, September 22 from 7pm to 9pm
Where: 2 Chapel Avenue
The Stork Club is a new members-only rooftop bar located at Hudson House (above Felina Steak). Today, the rooftop bar is hosting a cigar and whiskey social. The event is open to non-members ($45/pp) and members ($36/pp).

Saturday Events
What: The NYCRUNS Newport Half Marathon & 5K 2023
When: Saturday, September 23 at 8:30am
Where: Newport Green
It’s time for downtown’s premier race. The Newport Half takes runners through parts of downtown Jersey City, the waterfront, and Liberty State Park. A post-race celebration will be held at Newport Green. Note: Race organizers are asking that runners take the PATH train to Hoboken (instead of Newport) as it’ll leave you closer to the race start line.

What: Hamilton Park Conservancy Music Festival
When: Saturday, September 23 from 12pm to 8pm
Where: Hamilton Park
[POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER] Formerly the Hamilton Park BBQ Festival, the Hamilton Park Conservancy Music Festival is a day-long party showcasing the area’s best music and food. Vendors will include Rumba Cubana, Chickies, Milk Sugar Love, Cangiano’s, and more.

What: Hudson West Folk Festival
When: Saturday, September 23 from 12pm to 10pm
Where: Nimbus Arts Center at 329 Warren
The Hudson West Folk Festival is an all-day music fest featuring local and internationsl musicians performing everything from blues to honky-tonk. (You can check out the artists here). There will be a bar, food, and music workshops. Tickets start at $35.

When: Saturday, September 23 from 8pm to 10pm
Where: 594 Palisade Avenue
ChillBrown float about the realm of neo-soul, performing a melding of poetry and song. Admission is $10/pp.

What: Movie Night at Dullboy
When: Sunday, September 24
Where: 364 Grove Street
Every Sunday night, Dullboy will be screening a movie in its patio. The movie will begin at 8pm. Make sure to give them a follow on Instagram to find out what movie they’ll show.
