It’s the last weekend before the holidays. Shop local, eat local, and then drink local at these events (and recent openings) happening throughout Jersey City.

Friday Events

What: Departed Soles Ornament Workshop & Beer Release
When: Friday, December 20 from 5:30pm to 10:30pm
Where: 150 Bay Street
Departed Soles and Bucket & Bay are teaming up for a family friendly night of crafts, beer, and gelato. For $10, you’ll get a full pour of beer, a blank Christmas ornament to decorate, and a token for a free children’s gelato at Bucket & Bay. This weekend the brewery is also re-releasing Hoppy Little Trees — a piney hazy IPA, with hints of citrus and stone fruit.

What: Sushi by Bou
When: Now Open
Where: 218 Newark Avenue
Sushi by Bou is now open in the backroom of Ani Ramen. The venue offers 60-minute, 12-piece omakase for just $50/pp. It also has a dedicated bar with cocktails (pictured is the excellent Yuzu Honey Bee), sake, and whiskey.

What: Grinchy Xmas at Frankie
When: Friday, December 20 through Tuesday, December 24
Where: 264 Grove Street
Need a break from all the holiday jingles? Frankie is celebrating a Grinchy Xmas with cult classic holiday films, spiked cider, mulled wine, and cheap beer — but no Xmas tunes. Enjoy a Mariah Carey-free holiday meal at Frankie from now through Christmas Eve.

Get into the holiday spirit with some drinks and eats at Miracle on Mercer — a temporary holiday pop-up inside the forthcoming Franklin Social. They’re open 11am to 2am on weekends.

Saturday Events
It's a Wonderful Life

What: Santa at the Loew’s + It’s a Wonderful Life
When: Saturday, December 21 from 11am to 8pm
Where: 54 Journal Square
The Loew’s Theater has a full day of holiday events starting with photos with Santa at 11am. Photos are $5 each or bring an unwrapped toy as a donation and photos are free. (Pet owners can bring their 4-legged friends between 12pm to 2pm). At 4pm is the Loew’s annual holiday concert, featuring live performances of holiday classics. Then at 5:15pm (after the concert) the Loew’s will screen It’s a Wonderful Life (1946). Admission to the concert and movie is $12 for adults, $8 for kids.

What: CycleBar Ride for a Hero
When: Saturday, December 21 from 2pm to 5pm
Where: 65 Bay Street
Ride for a Hero is a CycleBar fundraiser for the family of slain detective Joseph Seals. Riders are encouraged to come dressed in blue or black as support for police officers nationwide.

What: Corgi Holiday Marketplace
When: Saturday, December 21 from 2:30pm to 6:30pm
Where: 1 Distillery Drive
Corgi Spirits is turning into a holiday marketplace this afternoon where you’ll be able to shop local art, vintage apparel, vintage jewelry, and more. The market will be set up indoors and Corgi be serving up cocktails in the Tasting Room.
