The Weekender: Bacon Fest at Zeppelin Hall, Midnight Market at the Beacon, & Goatfest!

Don’t let a few clouds ruin your weekend. There’s plenty to eat and do as we bid farewell to July. The weekend kicks off with Zeppelin Hall’s Bacon Fest — a celebration of all things crispy, salty, and bacon-y. Plus, check out Midnight Market’s Family Day at the Beacon, Taphaus Hoboken’s fundraiser for the LHS, and the 3rd Annual Goatstock Festival at the Historic Harsimus Cemetery. 

What: Bacon Fest at Zeppelin Hall
When: Friday, July 28 through Thursday, August 10
Where: Zeppelin Hall at 88 Liberty View Drive
Bacon Fest is Zeppelin Hall’s annual celebration of all things pig and bacon. The biergarten will offer a special bacon menu created by executive chef Franco Robazetti. The menu features 17 new entrees with bacon as the main star including Fifty Shades of Bacon — a BLT with 50 strips of bacon — and a Bacon Quesadilla.

What: Yoga in the Park
When: Saturday, July 29 from 8:15am to 11:15am
Where: Liberty State Park
Live More Adventures is hosting a special yoga class at Liberty State Park to help the pups and cats of the Liberty Humane Society. Tickets are $25/pp and it includes a 1-hour guided yoga class and picnic lunch at Liberty State Park. Mat rental are available for rent, but you’re encouraged to bring you own. The exact location of the class will be disclosed upon purchasing a ticket. Check-in is at 8:15am and the class starts at 9am.

What: Dog Days of Summer Dog Fest
When: Saturday, July 29 from 12pm to 3pm
Where: Liberty Harbor 333 Grand Street
After the initial fest was canceled due to weather conditions, the Dog Days of Summer Dog Fest is back. The street festival is open to all and will include various activities for you and your four-legged friends, like a doggie photo booth, agility course, beach club, and more. Food and drinks will be available for sale by Zeppelin Hall Biergarten and other dog-centric participants include k9dergarten, See Spot Rescued, Tails on Trails, Hound About Town, PetSmart, and more. **This event has been canceled again due to Saturday’s potential for rain. However, See Spot Rescued will hold an adoption event at K9dergarten.

What: Taphaus Bark ‘N Brunch
When: Saturday, July 29 from 12pm to 4pm
Where: Taphaus Hoboken at 800 Jackson Street
Bring your 4-legged friends to Taphaus on Saturday for Bark ‘N Brunch, a special fundraiser for the Liberty Humane Society. There will be mimosas, raffles, giveaways, and treats for the pups.  Ten percent of revenue and 100% of raffle donations will benefit the LHS.

What: NJ Blood Services Blood Drive
When: Saturday, July 29 from 12pm to 6pm
Where: Hudson Mall at Retro Fitness
If you missed your chance to donate blood at Grove Street this past week, NJ Blood Services will be at the Hudson Mall hosting a blood drive. Anyone who gives blood will get an e-voucher for two free Mets tickets.

What: 3rd Annual Goatstock Festival
When: Saturday, July 29 from 2pm to 10pm
Where: Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery at 436 Newark Avenue
The 3rd Annual Goatstock Festival is a yearly fundraiser to support the Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery, which is maintained by a team of volunteers. It’s also a chance to help the cemetery raise funds for its weed-chomping goats, who keep the cemetery’s weeds at bay. The festival includes live music, crafty vendors , food/drinks, and the show’s real rockstars — the Harsimus goats. Tickets are $10 for adults/$5 kids.

What: Midnight Market Family Day: Dinner & A Movie
When: Saturday, July 29 from 4pm to 11pm
Where: 20 Beacon Way
Head to the Beacon for Midnight Market Family Day — an outdoor party filled with good eats, activities for kids, drinks, and an outdoor screening of Mrs. Doubtfire. Admission is $5 (that includes a van ride from Grove aboard the Beacon shuttle bus) and all food and drinks will cost $5 max as well. Vendors include House of Gains, Squeeze’d, Baking Mama, Taste of Poland JC, Eemas Cuisine, and more. The movie starts at 9pm.
