From free art galleries at Mana Contemporary to a 5K run/walk at Liberty State Park, take advantage of the early spring weather with this weekend’s list of outdoor and indoor events throughout downtown. Plus, music lovers can catch a double-bill show at the Barrow Mansion and a Portuguese fado & food dinner at Broa.
What: Classic Film Weekend at Loew’s
When: Friday, March 11 at 8pm; Saturday, March 12 at 6pm & 8.15pm
Where: The Landmark Loew’s at 54 Journal Square
In Tribute to Harper Lee, the Landmark Loew’s is featuring great adaptations from book to film. On Friday, its feature film will be “The Postman Always Rings Twice” (8pm). Saturday’s double feature will include “Stand by Me” (6pm) and “To Kill a Mockingbird” (8.15pm). Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children and seniors.

What: Run/Walk – Recharge
When: Saturday, March 12th at 10am
Where: Central Railroad Terminal at the end of Audrey Zapp Road in Liberty State Park
Whealth and Modern Sage are teaming up for a 5K run (or 30-minute walk if you’re a non-runner) at Liberty State Park. The event is open to anyone (regardless of your fitness level) with the intent of getting everyone to connect with one another in the community. The event costs $15 per person and includes the run/walk, cool down/meditation, and picnic afterwards.

When: Saturday, March 12th from 12pm – 6pm
Where: 888 Newark Avenue
Mana Contemporary has announced the start of “Saturdays at Mana,” a program that opens Mana’s doors to the public free of charge on Saturdays form the hours of 12pm to 6pm. Each Saturday a new exhibition will be featured for self-guided tours. The programs kicks off this Saturday with “Here’s Looking Back At You: Images of Woman” from the Eileen S. Kaminsky Family Foundation Collection” and “The T’ang Horse,” an exhibition of Anthony Quinn’s own art.

What: Con vivo Music Presents A/B Duo and Elspeth Davis
When: Saturday, March 12th from 7pm – 8.30pm
Where: Barrow Mansion at 83 Wayne Street
Con vivo Music is sponsoring a double bill event this Saturday evening starring flute/percussion ensemble A/B Duo and mezzo-soprano Elspeth Davis. A/B Duo will be performing newly commissioned works by Ken Ueno, Brendon Randall-Myers, and Brooks Frederickson. Elspeth Davis will perform music for voice and piano by Benjamin Britten, John Harbison, and The Beatles arranged by Louis Andriessen.

What: Fado & Food at Broa
When: Sunday, March 13th at 4.30pm & 7.30pm
Where: Broa Cafe at 297 Grove Street
Broa Cafe is hosting a night of Portuguese music (fado) and food this Sunday. Seatings are available at 4.30pm and 7.30pm. Reservations are required; an all-inclusive ticket costs $65 per person.
