What: Ironbound Athletics Performance Grand Opening
When: Friday, September 15 at 12pm; party at 8pm

Ironbound Athletics Performance is a new fitness center opening in the heart of the Village. There will be tours and a ribbon cutting ceremony at 12pm followed by a party in the evening at 8pm.

What: Band Camp at Zeppelin Hall
When: Friday, September 15 & Saturday, September 16 at 10pm
Where: Zeppelin Hall at 88 Liberty View Drive
Tribute bands are taking over Zeppelin Hall this weekend with a Kiss tribute band playing Friday night at 10pm decked out in original Kiss makeup and costume. Fans of The Boss can check out Thunder Road — a Springsteen tribute band playing Saturday at 10pm. There are no covers or admission charges.

When: Saturday, September 16 from 12pm to 8pm
Where: Pedestrian Plaza/Newark Avenue
Jersey City’s biggest food fest is back for its 7th consecutive year. To appease the hungry crowd of 40k+ attendees, the fair has been widened and will include beer gardens, free shuttle buses by Jersey City Day Trippers, and tons of delicious food. Vendors will include House of Gains, Van Hook Cheese, Roman Nose, Pet Shop JC, and more. There will also be local shops, food trucks, and live music.

What: Pershing Field Roller Skating Rink Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
When: Saturday, September 16 at 12pm
Where: 807 Summit Avenue
Celebrate the ribbon cutting of the Pershing Field Roller Skating Rink. The family-friendly event will include cartoon characters, light refreshments, and four roller skating sessions starting at 12pm. Admission is free and rentals cost $4 for skates and $5 for in-line skates.

What: 2nd Annual Adobo Cook-Off
When: Saturday, September 16 from 12pm to 3pm
Where: Liberty State Park (1 Audrey Zapp Drive)
Adobo is the national dish of the Philippines and while it may be too late to enter in this cook-off, it’s not too late to participate as a taster. Head to Liberty State Park for free giveaways, raffles, and to try the best adobo New York and New Jersey has to offer.

What: Newport Half Marathon
When: Sunday, September 17 at 8:30am
Where: Town Square at Newport
It’s time for downtown’s premier race. The Newport Half takes runners through parts of downtown Jersey City, the waterfront, and Liberty State Park. A post-race celebration will be held at Newport Town Square with refreshments, music, and prizes. Race-day registration will be allowed on Sunday (starting at 6.30am) for $55.

What: 2017 Chili Cook-Off + Mac & Cheese Showdown
When: Sunday, September 17 from 11am to 4pm
Where: Cathedral Hall at 380 Montgomery
Head to Cathedral Hall for an afternoon of homemade chili, mac & cheese, and home-brewed beers. The annual showdown lets you pick a winner with access to unlimited samples. Tickets start at $10/pp for unlimited chili/mac & cheese samples or you can opt for the curated beer & food pairing for $30/pp (the 12 beers are provided by the Jersey City Brew Club). An early-access VIP ticket is also available for $75/pp.

What: Lutze Biergarten Art House Fundraiser
When: Sunday, September 17 from 12pm to 8pm
Where: 3 Second Street
Head to the Lutze Biergarten to help raise funds for Jersey City’s Art House — a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting the arts throughout Jersey City. The all-day event will include free painting workshops (for adults and kids) and live music.
