What: JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes at Liberty State Park

Where: 5 Audrey Zapp Drive at Liberty State Park
Kick off your weekend with a 3-mile fundraiser/walk to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), a global organization looking to end Type I diabetes. The walk is open to everyone and begins at 10am (registration starts at 8.30am).

Where: Newport Green Park
Newport is getting a jump start on the fall activities with its annual Pumpkin Carnival and Parade. The family-friendly event involves pumpkin carving, children’s games, free candy, and a kids’ costume parade.

What: Liberty Harbor’s First Annual Block Party
When: Saturday, October 22 from 12pm – 5pm **changed to Sunday, October 23 from 12pm – 5pm (due to weather)
Where: Regent Street
Liberty Harbor is throwing its first Block Party this weekend and everyone is invited. The family-friendly event will include food, games, and dozens of kid-friendly activities. Food vendors will include ME Casa, IncrediBalls Food Truck, Squeeze’D, Cocoa Bakery, Busy Bee Organics, Zeppelin Hall Biergarten, and more.

What: Ghost of Uncle Joe’s Halloween Ball & Fundraiser
When: Saturday, October 22 from 1pm – 3am **changed to Sunday, October 23 due to weather (after parties will remain on Saturday night)
Where: The Historic Jersey City and Harsimus Cemetery, LITM, Porta
The Ghost of Uncle Joe’s is an annual rock show/costume party held at the Historic Harsimus Cemetery. Local musicians will perform covers of famous bands (The Strokes, The Cars, David Bowie, etc.) while food and beer will be provided (sold) by local food trucks. Tickets cost $10 and sales help preserve and restore the Harsimus Cemetery. After parties (with more classic cover band tunes) are slated for LITM (10.30pm – 1am) and Porta (11.40pm – 1.20am).

What: Zombie Bar Crawl Fundraiser for the Liberty Humane Society

Where: Raval, Porta, LITM, and the Coffee Shop at Grove Square
Halloween is still a week away, but you can use this Saturday to perfect your zombie walk during downtown’s Zombie Bar Crawl fundraiser benefiting Jersey City’s Liberty Humane Society. The crawl will make stops at Raval, Porta, LITM, and the Coffee Shop at Grove Square. Tickets are $10 online or $15 at the door and include professional zombie make up and all-night food and drink specials.

What: Pitness in the Park
When: Sunday, October 23 at 11am – 2pm
Where: Pier A / Hoboken Sinatra Park / Hoboken
Passion for Pitties, Bachata & Barbells, and Necessary Thickness present Pitness in the Park — an afternoon celebrating all things pitbull. The event will feature adoptable pups from New York Bully Crew, local health and pup-friendly vendors, and a pet Halloween costume contest. The event has moved from Pier A to Sinatra Park.
