Malls aren’t typically known for their vegan food options, but Newport Centre is hoping to change that. It’s now home to The Little Beet Jersey City, which opened two weeks ago on the mall’s second floor (next to Dunkin’ Donuts).
The health-focused eatery offers plant-based food options for diners looking to stay fit. Launched in 2014, The Little Beet’s motto is wholesome, healthy food that tastes great and makes you feel great.
The restaurant sources ingredients from small, local farmers and everything at The Little Beet is also gluten-free. Its menu includes seasonal items, salads, breakfast options, and made-to-order bowls.
Popular options include the Jack Bowl, made with BBQ jackfruit, black beans, sesame avocado, and chipotle aioli. There’s also an Eggs Benny Bowl, which includes sautéed greens, turmeric tahini sauce, and avocado bean dip. It’s topped with a sunny side up egg. The Little Beet also has quinoa oatmeal bowls and a selection of parfaits, which include Greek yogurt and a variety of fresh berries.
You can also make your own bowl by choosing a base (brown rice, quinoa, or greens), two veggies (raw or cooked), one protein (plant-based or meat), a sauce, and a garnish.
Prices range from $5 for breakfast items to about $12 for lunch items and bowls.
The Newport outpost is The Little Beet’s first Jersey City location. It’s open from 7:30am to 9:30pm on weekdays and from 11am to 8pm on weekends. It joins other Newport eateries including Chick-fil-A, OBox Sushi, and Zinburger.
