Sweetgreen Jersey City is officially open. Located at 90 Hudson, the 2,900 square foot restaurant marks the chain’s first storefront in the state of New Jersey.
Sweetgreen is renown for its healthy — and sustainable — food options. Their menu offers a range of bowls, salads, and seasonal plates that range from chicken to tofu steak. Ingredients are always sourced locally and all meals are cooked and roasted in-house daily. Sweetgreen is also very transparent about its supply chain and works with organizations like the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
- Where to eat outdoors: Jersey City outdoor dining
- Now open: Shell N’ Tail
Currently, Sweetgreen Jersey City does not permit indoor dining. (Current COVID-19 restrictions prohibit NJ indoor dining). Instead, the restaurant has two separate entrances — one for in-store ordering and a second for pickup. Once restrictions are lifted, Sweetgreen Jersey City will be able to seat around 30 guests. In the meantime, diners can enjoy Sweetgreen’s outdoor patio space.
Last year, the California-based chain opened an experimental Sweetgreen 3.0 store in New York. The store ditches the traditional assembly line salad-making chain for “concierge ordering,” which means you order via a tablet and wait for your name to show up on a display signaling that your salad is ready.
During its opening week, Sweet Green Jersey City donated to the York Street Project. The chain also made donations to the West Side Community Fridge.
