Sol Azteca — a BYOB Mexican restaurant located at 239 Barrow Street — is moving into new digs.
On the first week of August, the restaurant will close its current location and open at 328 Montgomery between Varick and Monmouth. The new restaurant is just a few blocks away, but the new Sol Azteca will be bigger, provider better air conditioning, and a better overall experience for customers and staff.
Sol Azteca has also launched a new food truck, which you can find across the street from Base gym (on Columbus Drive) on weekday evenings or by the waterfront during lunch hours. (They don’t appear to have a set schedule or hours for the truck as of this moment). The truck offers many of the restaurant’s signature dishes like sopes, huaraches, flautas, burritos, and of course, tacos.
Sol Azteca is still somewhat of a newcomer to downtown Jersey City. They opened late last year at 239 Barrow offering what they describe as typical Mexican food. The restaurant has very affordable prices (generally in the $10-$12 range) and offers generous portions.
They expect to be open for business from their new location as of August 1.
