Mack-Cali is unveiling more details about its plans to modernize the Harborside Terminal.
The $75 million overhaul — which started with the transformation of the Harborside Atrium into an events space — will include revamping the building’s lobbies and internal passageways, installing a new ferry terminal with direct access to the WTC and Hudson Yards, and giving Harborside’s office buildings a complete makeover both on the exterior and interior with new floor-to-ceiling glass and steel to increase natural light and provide better views of neighboring New York City.
Foodies should also take note because Mack-Cali’s plans include overhauling the current food court into a massive food hall called The Marketplace. The Marketplace will consist of kiosks that will be leased to a rotating roster of local vendors.
We’ve already seen signs of that with the debut of pop-ups from Whealth Cafe, Tidal Poké, and the Lutze Biergarten. Spearheading the Marketplace initiative is also Piggyback Bar, the soon-to-open restaurant by Top Chef alum and Pig & Khao owner, Leah Cohen. New dining tables and chairs will also be installed along the entire strip of the waterfront esplanade.
The Marketplace will help usher in a new era for Harborside making it a dining destination not just for your weekday lunch, but for dinner and weekends as well.
In a nutshell, the Harborside/Exchange Place area is going to give Grove Street some major competition when it comes to food, nightlife, and things to do in Jersey City.
The other article I read did not have this rendering…
It is nice to have a quiet walk way since everything is so bustling.
I’m sure there will still be room for dog walkers, runners, etc. It’ll be nice to see it come alive. Such an amazing view and location.
