Mayor Steven Fulop and the Jersey City Parks Coalition broke ground on Bergen-Lafayette’s re-imagined Fairmount Triangle Park. The park currently consists of two green spaces bisected by two small portions of roadway open to traffic. As part of the park’s renovation, the two roadways will be eliminated and incorporated into one new, unified park.
“Fairmount Triangle currently has streets cutting through the park, which renders the green space unusable for many local children and families,” said Mayor Steven Fulop via press release. “We used the community’s input to realize the full potential of the open park space by reconfiguring two small portions of roadway and incorporating them into the park while maintaining all of the existing on-street parking.” City officials hope the extended park will result in more families using the park.

Fairmount Triangle Park will also be renovated to include an upgraded playground area, new trees, plants, seating, and more. The $200,000 Fairmount Park improvement project is funded by grants from Made to Move and the NJ Dept. of Transportation.
