Yet another Italian restaurant has closed in downtown Jersey City. In addition to losing GP’s Hamilton Park earlier this month, the Pedestrian Plaza has also lost Pasta e Vino.

The restaurant closed abruptly at the start of the year on January 1. Their website has the following message.

“Pasta e Vino has been permanently closed as of January 1, 2020. We would like to thank our staff for 4.5 years of service and loyalty. We would also like to thank the people of Jersey City for their support and patronage. We wish the next business coming soon all the best, and hope that 2020 is a great year for them.”

Located at 136 Newark Avenue, Pasta e Vino specialized in homemade pastas with entrees like lasagna, orecchiette, mafaldi, and more. The downstairs lounge — Red Lounge — is also closed.

Prior to Pasta e Vino, the restaurant was a Spanish tapas spot called Raval. However, Raval was also short-lived and in October of 2017 the space was revamped and opened as Pasta e Vino.

Pasta e Vino is the third Pedestrian Plaza business to close in the past few months. Newark Avenue has also lost Downtown Hardware and Sawadee. Stay tuned as we find out who will take over the space.

  1. Yeah, maybe someday Harborside will be a destination place again but presently a depressing construction zone. And the bar that recently opened in there completely blows.
