Ondo Jersey City is now offering brunch. The recently opened Korean restaurant, operated by owners Brian Kim and Jae Park of DomoDomo Jersey City, is offering brunch from 11:30am to 2pm on Saturdays.
The brunch menu consists of dishes like a bulgogi cream pasta, galbi-jjim bun, ribeye rice bowl, and Ondo toast. Ondo, which translates to “temperature” in English, opened this past April. The restaurant is located at 3 Second Street (in the former Ground Connection space). We’ve yet to try their brunch, but given how excellent their dinner menu is, we suspect Ondo’s weekend service will make it onto our best brunch in Jersey City list.
Ondo Jersey City menu
The menu at Ondo is now live on the restaurant’s website. Entrees are categorized by temperature: cold, warm, or hot. It includes classics like tteokbokki (rice cakes with gochujang chili paste), spicy Korean fried chicken, and mul-hweh (raw fish).
Despite being a Korean restaurant, there’s not a single kimchi dish on the menu. Likewise, you won’t find any banchan/side dishes with your meals. Instead, Ondo is focusing on providing a modern interpretation of Korean food.
The restaurant also offers a variety of Korean spirits such as soju and YangChon ChungJu rice wine. On the cocktail front, you’ll find drinks like the Ondo Fashion, made with infused smoke wood, Barbancourt 18yrs and Plantation rum.
News of Ondo was first reported by Jersey Digs. The Korean restaurant is located just steps away from DomoDomo JC. Brothers-in-law Kim and Park first opened DomoDomo in New York’s West Village in 2015. Since its inception, the restaurant has won multiple Michelin Bib Gourmand awards (Michelin’s “value-for-money award”) for offering great food without a hefty price tag. Their Jersey City location opened in 2019.
