Jersey City has seen an abundance of openings as of late, but Ohlala Dessert Bar could be the city’s sweetest launch to date.
Located at 682-686 Bergen Avenue, this bakery cafe just opened in late February — as spotted by Hoboken Girl — and is already serving up a range of sweet and savory French fare.
The dessert shop doesn’t have a full menu online (yet), but a handful of their sweets include Paris-Brest (a pastry that resembles a stuffed donut), waffles, and Belgian hot chocolate. They also offer a variety of sweet crepes stuffed with everything from dulce de leche to Nutella.
On the savory side, you’ll find French classics like quiche, croque monsieur and croque madame sandwiches, tartines (open-face sandwiches), and a few salad options.
Food prices are all under $15 with the majority of Ohlala’s dishes in the $10 range. As an added bonus, the dessert bar is also BYOB.
Ohlala is open Wednesdays through Fridays from 3pm to 10pm. On Saturdays they open from 12pm to 10pm and Sundays from 12pm to 8pm.
