Amelia's BistroWhat started out as a measure to avoid the spread of Covid-19 is being extended for another year. Governor Phil Murphy recently signed a bill extending outdoor dining throughout the state of New Jersey.

The current measure, which allows restaurants, bars, and breweries to operate outdoors — was set to expire November 30, 2022. However, both chambers of the state Legislature approved the extension earlier this summer. Governor Murphy signed the bill extension on August 3.

“Supporting the success of our small businesses ultimately means supporting the success of our communities,” said Governor Murphy. “Continuing this successful practice will not only benefit small business owners, but also the many patrons who have come to enjoy the atmosphere and opportunities outdoor dining offers.”

Under the new bill, restaurants, bars, and breweries are allowed to operate outdoors using tents and tables on sidewalks/roadways/parking lots. The bill will be valid through November 24, 2024.
