**The MTA has teamed up with Penguin Random House to offer straphangers access to a new e-book platform called Subways Reads. The free service will give commuters access to five novellas or short stories by contemporary and classic writers. —NYT

**Former NFL Giant Steve Weatherford held a charity event for 20 Hudson County Boys & Girls Club members this past Tuesday. The event took place at The Sneaker Room on 410 Central Avenue. Weatherford bought each of the students backpacks and sneakers for school. Weatherford is no stranger to Jersey City. Last year he funded prom expenses for several seniors at Dickinson High School and in September of 2015 he purchased shoes and clothes for a different group of New Jersey students.
