**More details have emerged regarding Battello’s closing. Back in May, Newport Marine Holding — Battello’s landlord — notified the restaurant that Battello’s patio and parking lot would have to close immediately due to necessary pier repairs. On August 3, the restaurant was contacted again and informed that the pilings of the pier would have to be repaired, causing the restaurant to close from September 15 through April 2018, when construction is expected to wrap up. According to NJ.com, however, there are no public records indicating a need for repairs at the pier.
Jersey City Upfront has been provided with documents detailing the timeline and Battello’s rush to reach out to all affected wedding parties; a task we imagine hasn’t been easy. It’s truly a worst case scenario for employees and couples who must now scramble to re-book their weddings. All things said, it appears Maritime Parc and the W Hoboken are helping couples affected by Battello’s sudden closure. **Remember the short-lived Draper? A new restaurant by the name of Buddy’s is expected to open at the former Draper space at 247 Washington Street. [Complete speculation, but with a name like “Buddy’s” I wonder if it could be a Buddy Valastro project?] —Jersey Digs
**Citi Bike Jersey City is backpedaling on a plan to relocate about a quarter of its bike stations away from the city’s southern and northern neighborhoods. Instead, it will work with city officials to increase ridership in low-use neighborhoods by possibly offering city subsidies. —NJ.com
