Money Dispute Could Delay Construction of WTC Performing Arts Center

A dispute between the Lower Manhattan Development Corp. and the Port Authority could stall the construction of a Performing Arts Center near the Oculus WTC, reports Crain’s.

At the heart of the feud is a classic he-said/she-said argument. The PAC will be built on a section of the World Trade Center site that is controlled by the Port Authority. The PA has prepped the site for the LMDC and claims the LMDC owes them $67 million for the prep work. But according to the LMDC, they owe the PA $45 million.

Complicating matters even more, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development may withdraw its $100 million in federal funding if they see that no work is being performed on the PAC.

The LMDC is hoping they can reach an agreement with the PA by June.
