If the weekend WTC PATH closures are still rubbing you the wrong way, PATH and Lyft are teaming up to offer a little relief.
New and existing Lyft customers can use coupon code “PATH2019” to take 50 percent off shared Lyft rides from the hours of 12:01am Friday to 5am Saturday and 12:01am Saturday to 5am Sunday. I just applied the coupon to my account so I can confirm it works, but there are a few caveats to note:
- maximum cash discount is $10
- applicable on Shared rides only
- valid for 15 rides only
- valid until July 1, 2019 only
- applies to rides to/from select parts of Jersey City and downtown New York
On the Jersey City side, the coverage map encompasses parts of downtown, Paulus Hook, and Newport. It cuts off on Coles Street and 13th Street in Newport. That means that if you live in Journal Square, the Village, Bergen Lafayette, or the Heights — you’re out of luck. On the New York side, you’re good anywhere below Canal Street.
Those are some major limitations and it’s obviously cheaper to take the PATH train, but if you don’t mind paying ~$25 to bypass Hoboken — then this is a deal for you.
