**A new boutique condo is coming to the corner of Newark Avenue and Third Street. Designed by Frederick Cooke of C+C Architecture, 280 Newark Avenue will have a bold exterior — one of The Village’s boldest designs to date — and will trade straight lines for a completely curved frame, reports Jersey Digs. Each condo will take up an entire floor for a total of 1,200 square feet per unit. Every unit will also have its own private elevator entrance. Other features include polished concrete floors, LED lighting, floor-to-ceiling windows, and outdoor terraces. The penthouse will have a private roof deck with New York and Jersey City views. According to C+C Architecture, zoning for the building has already been approved and the project should be completed by fall of 2017. —Jersey Digs
**It’s been a little over a month since Santiago Calatrava’s Oculus WTC Hub opened up in New York and now it looks like the bird-like structure is getting ready for an official opening ceremony. Port Authority Chairman John Degnan told Politico that they’re “hoping for a ceremony of some sort in May in connection with the board meeting.” The board meeting Degnan is referring to is a PA board meeting scheduled for May 26.
The Daily News also reports that Arthur Piccolo of the Bowling Green Association is proposing a name change for the WTC Hub. Piccolo wants to name it after founding father and first U.S. treasury secretary, Alexander Hamilton. (New York is definitely undergoing a Hamilton craze right now). The tribute would be in honor of Hamilton’s life and his extensive work in both New York and New Jersey. No word on whether the PA is open to a name change at this time. —Curbed
