Christmas in Jersey City can be a festive time of year, but even Santa can use a little help over the holidays. So we’ve created a guide of local shops that’ll be open this week complete with their holiday hours. (We’ve focused on food, booze, and dessert because after all — that’s what the holidays are made of).
Many places are still accepting holiday orders, but we recommend you place them asap to ensure your order can be accommodated. Other shops have stopped accepting orders, but will still have items and gifts available for pickup right until the very last hour.
So whether you’re looking for last-minute ingredients for your holiday dinner or searching for a quick gift, here are the Jersey City shops open on Christmas Eve.
Baonanas (Harborside Atrium): The holidays aren’t complete without dessert, so don’t forget to get your tray of fluffy banana pudding from Baonanas. Their District Kitchen location (at Harborside Atrium) will be open till 3pm on Christmas Eve. (Hours)
Bucket & Bay (150 Bay): Bourbon pecan pie, Granny Smith apple crumble pie, chocolate crackle pie, and more. Get your holiday pies at Pie 66 (aka Bucket & Bay). Their Jersey City shop will be open till 6pm on Christmas Eve. Plus, we hear they have a new whiskey walnut pie. (Hours)
Casa Cubana (1007 Summit): Don’t feel like cooking this holiday? There’s still time to order catering from Casa Cubana. The Heights-based catering company offers Cuban classics like Cuban roast pork and oven-roasted chicken. (Hours)
Choc-O-Pain Bakery (530 Jersey Avenue/330 Palisade Avenue): From award-winning baguettes to flourless chocolate cake, French bakery Choc-o-Pain will be open till 3pm on Christmas Eve. (Hours)
Darke Pines (332 Second Street): Sustainable butcher shop Darke Pines will be open from 11:30am to 7pm on Monday and from 10am to 5pm on Christmas Eve. They’re offering charcuterie boards (call in advance to place your order) and gift cards if you need a last-minute stocking stuffer. (Hours)
Dulce de Leche Bakery (376 Central Avenue): Dulce de Leche is offering a special menu of holiday cakes you can order online (for in-store pickup). Cakes can be picked up as late as Christmas Eve from 7am to 7pm. They also have a new chocolate chip pannettone. (Hours)
Jersey City Fish Stand (508 Jersey Avenue): From ceviche to shrimp cocktail, Jersey City Fish Stand is the place to go for all of your seafood needs. The shop will be open till 7:30pm on Monday and 3pm on Christmas Eve. They’re also offering gift cards and DIY kits as last-minute gifts for any seafood lovers on your shopping list. (Hours)
Jersey & Co. Gelato (55 Mallory Avenue): There’s still time to pick up some pints of gelato or place a tiramisu order. Jersey & Co. Gelato will be open from 12pm to 4pm on Christmas Eve. (Hours)
Jersey Wine & Spirits (492 Jersey Avenue): From beer to whiskey, Jersey Wine & Spirits will be open late (till 6pm) on Christmas Eve. You can check out their full holiday schedule here. (Hours)
Lee Sims Chocolates (743 Bergen Avenue): Family-owned and operated for over 65 years, Lee Sims is a Jersey City institution. They’re offering all sorts of chocolates and sweets for the holidays. (Hours)
Milk Sugar Love (19 McWilliam Place/394 Palisade Avenue): Cakes, ice cream, cupcakes, cookies — Milk Sugar Love has everything you need to get your holiday celebration started right. Both locations (Hamilton Park and the Heights) will be open till 6pm on Christmas Eve. (Hours)
Pampita Meat Shop (393 Central Avenue): Get all of your grass-fed Argentine meats and cuts at Pampita Meat Shop. They’re open till 7pm on Monday and till 4pm on Christmas Eve. (Hours)
Prato Bakery (371 Fourth Street/201 Washington): From cookies to homemade bread, get all of your Italian bakery needs at Prato. They’ll be open till 3pm on Christmas Eve. (Hours)
Riverview Wine (43 Bowers): Need a last-minute gift? The Heights’ Riverview Wine has you covered. In addition to natural wines, beer, and everything in between — they’re also selling wine and cheese baskets at the shop. Plus, they’re open till 8pm on Christmas Eve. (Hours)
Torico’s (20 Erie): Torico’s will be open till 6pm on Christmas Eve. You can get pints of ice cream, ice cream pies, and ice cream cakes. (Hours)
Van Hook Cheese (528 Jersey Avenue): Local cheese shop Van Hook Cheese will be open till 8pm on Monday and 4pm on Christmas Eve. It’s too late to order a platter, but the shop still has plenty of gift items including cheese, truffle popcorn, caviar, and more cheese. Plus, they offer gift cards for all your cheese-loving friends. (Hours)
