Krewe of McGinley Square is a New Orleans-inspired restaurant that recently opened at 673 Bergen Avenue. (They’re located in the former Honey Bakery space across the street from ITA Kitchen). The BYOB restaurant offers a mix of NoLa-style dishes including po’ boys, jambalaya, and gumbo.
On the sandwich front, the Krew menu offers chicken, roast beef, and shrimp po’ boys. There’s also a cochon de lait po’ boy (suckling pig). Heftier entrees include a Creole jambalaya and shrimp etouffee. Diners looking for meatless options have a few options including the vegan banh mi or the vegan dirty rice.
Krewe was a food vendor during the Jersey City Mural Festival earlier this summer. During its soft opening, the restaurant will be open Thursdays through Sundays from 12pm to 7pm.
