One of Jersey City’s best seafood spots is shutting its doors. Just Beclaws (280 First Street) has announced via Instagram that it’ll permanently close on December 23.
The original post, which mentioned an earlier date, says that the decision was made “after careful consideration of various factors, including market conditions and other business considerations.”
Just Beclaws first opened in June of 2015 serving a mix of Vietnamese and Cajun seafood. Owners Nambinh and Francis Tran created a delicious menu that includes lobster rolls, crawfish, Alaskan crab, and gumbo, to name a few. The menu’s “main event,” allowed diners to select crab, crawfish, clams, and other types of shellfish by the pound. Food was delivered in a steaming plastic bag with the seasoning of your choice.
The BYOB restaurant was one of downtown’s first big restaurant openings and has been a fixture at various events such as the All About Downtown Food Festival.
