Tourists visiting the tri-state area will soon have a new place to crash.
Located in the heart of downtown Jersey City — and directly above the Grove PATH station — the new Residence Inn Marriott Hotel is slated to open on February 15, 2017.
The extended stay hotel will house a total of 152 rooms: 119 studio king rooms, 24 one-bedroom suites, and 9 double queen rooms. All rooms will have flat-screen HDTVs, free Internet access, furnished kitchens, and complimentary access to the hotel’s all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet.
The pet-friendly hotel will also feature an on-site bar/lounge, expanded fitness center, and an outdoor communal area (which will sit above the future Sunac Market). However, the outdoor area won’t be be accessible until construction of 90 Columbus is completed.
With a record 60 million tourists expected to visit neighboring New York, it’s not surprising to see hoteliers turn to Jersey City to accommodate tourists who aren’t keen on paying New York’s high hotel prices.
As for current downtown residents, the hotel intends on actively participating in community events and showcasing local art work.
