“We have a surge in the number of individuals testing positive due to the highly contagious Omicron variant,” states the Jersey City Public Schools website. “As a precautionary measure, we return to virtual instruction for a week effective Monday, January 3, 2022. We anticipate returning to in-person learning on Monday, January 10, 2022.”

The number of Covid-19 Jersey City cases has skyrocketed in the past few weeks. Even Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop tested positive for Covid-19 last month. The city’s 7-day rolling average of new cases is 485 with single day infections reaching up to 650.
