Jersey City’s first coronavirus testing centers will open today (March 27), announced Mayor Steven Fulop via Twitter. The city will open a walk-up center at the JC Fire Headquarters at 465 Marin Boulevard and a drive-thru coronavirus testing facility at 575 Route 440.
The two locations will be open from 9:30am to 5pm. A few things to know before you go:
- You must call (201) 547-5535 to make an appointment. (Call volume is expected to be very high).
- The call center and testing centers will be open everyday from 9am to 5pm. (On Friday the testing center will open at 9:30am).
- Proof of Jersey City residency (rent receipt, electric bills, ID, etc.) is required.
- You must have symptoms in order to be tested.
- Per NJ.com, test results will take about 3 days (72 hours).
COVID-19 cases in the state of New Jersey
New Jersey currently has 6,876 (up from 4,402) positive COVID-19 cases with 81 deaths (up from 62) total. The counties with the most positive cases are:
- Bergen County: 1,206 (up from 819)
- Essex: 609 (up from 381)
- Middlesex: 505 (up from 316)
- Monmouth: 501 (up from 313)
- Hudson: 441 (up from 260)
- Union: 432 (up from 262)
