What you need to know for Wednesday, April 8:

1: Jersey City is reporting 1,970 confirmed COVID-19 cases (up from 1,671) and 54 deaths (up from 47). Tuesday, April 7 saw 299 new cases — the highest number of new cases the city has reported since the outbreak started. —COVID-19 JC Stats

2: Governor Phil Murphy has signed an executive order closing all state parks, forests, and county parks. Liberty State Park, for instance, is now closed. “We’ve seen far too many instances in our parks where people are gathering and socializing in groups,” tweeted Murphy. —GovMurphy/Twitter

3: New Jersey currently has 44,416 positive COVID-19 cases (up from 41,090) with 1,232 deaths (up from 1,003). —NJ Dept. of Health

Where can you get coronavirus testing in Jersey City?
  • Jersey City has two coronavirus testing facilities open 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm.
  • You must call (201) 547-5535 to make an appointment.
  • A walk-up center is located at the JC Fire Headquarters at 465 Marin Boulevard.
  • A drive-thru testing facility is located at 575 Route 440.
  • Grocery store workers and health care workers will be tested first.
