The Jersey City Mutual Aid Society (JCMAS) — a volunteer-run organization providing aid to local residents — is hosting a collection drive outside Word Book Store (123 Newark Avenue) on Saturday, March 13 from 11am to 3pm.

Contributions will go directly to Jersey City residents who are in need of assistance. Saturday’s drive will focus on collecting every day items such as:

  • diapers
  • toilet paper
  • bottled water
  • tampons/pads
  • toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental floss
  • soap shampoo and conditioner
  • moisturizer/body lotion
  • deodorant
  • baby formula, diaper rash cream, and baby soap

If you’d like to contribute, but can’t make it to the event, JCMAS has an online registry where you can make virtual contributions by shopping wish lists set up on Amazon and Target.

If you prefer to shop local, JCMAS can pick up contributions from your home if you fill out a pick-up request on their website. Just keep in mind that JCMAS can’t accept furniture, clothing, or food contributions.
