**A new gym is opening soon at 251 Newark Avenue. Ironbound Performance Athletics (IPA) describes itself as a training gym, where every member is paired up with an experienced trainer that guides them through customized workouts.
Unlike your local mega gym, trainers at IPA will also monitor your diet and make weekly assessments to ensure clients are sticking to their fitness goals.
The gym, which is not affiliated with CrossFit, will offer a variety of workouts using a range of equipment including kettlebells, TRX, gymnastic rings, and more.
There’s no word yet on membership or pricing, but the gym will offer a variety of options including group classes, one-on-one training, and an afterschool program for young adults.
Ironbound Performance Athletics will be located at 251 Newark Avenue between Coles and Second street, and across the street from a new Juice Basin cold-press juice shop.
**The plan to turn Harborside into a major foodie destination is coming along nicely. Former Top Chef contestant Leah Cohen — of Pig & Khao fame — is opening her first restaurant in Jersey City. Piggyback Bar will be an Asian-accented tavern located at 210 Hudson street. It’s expected to open in September, reports Eater.
