Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood is coming to Jersey City. The New Orleans-inspired restaurant is opening in the Twin City Shopping Center located on the border of Jersey City and Bayonne at 2 Garfield Avenue.
Founded in 2013, Hook & Reel is a casual seafood shack originally based out of Lanham, Maryland. Diners at the restaurant can order king crab legs, lobster, shellfish, and Dungeness crab by the pound. Just pick a sauce, choose a spice level, and add as many sides as you want, including corn, sausage, or potatoes.
Like many other Cajun seafood restaurants, food is delivered to your table in a bag and you’re encouraged to dig in with your hands. (The concept is very similar to downtown’s Just Beclaws). In addition to seafood by the pound, the menu also includes a mix of appetizers, fried seafood baskets, and po’ boys.
The 8,350 square foot restaurant will also have a full bar with signature cocktails, wine, and beer. This will be Hook & Reel’s second restaurant in New Jersey. They opened their first Garden State restaurant earlier this year in West Orange. Currently, there’s no estimate for when the restaurant will open. (You can follow them on Instagram for updates).
Twin City Shopping Center is a 95,337-square-foot strip mall at 2 Garfield Avenue. It houses a variety of retailers that range from Aqui Market to Wendy’s and Retro Fitness.
