Grubbs Take Away is coming to Jersey City. The Hoboken-based burger shop is opening soon at 564 Newark Avenue, just a few steps away from Cafe Peanut.
The space, formerly a McDonald’s, is currently undergoing construction with an “opening soon” sign hanging from its windows. Grubbs Take Away specializes in burgers, melts, chicken wings, hotdogs, subs, and more.
Its Hoboken storefront is located at 418 Washington Street. Its menu is pretty extensive offering a mix of breakfast sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches, wraps, subs, melts, nuggets, and milkshakes/smoothies. Prices are pretty accessible with practically all menu items priced comfortably under $10.
Its priciest burger, for instance, is the Kimchi Jam Burger ($9.25), which includes house-made kimchi jam, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. Otherwise, a Classic Burger will set you back $6.75, whereas a Basic Hot Dog costs $3.95.
There’s also a kids menu with junior-sized burgers, chicken sandwiches and fish sandwiches priced at $1.95.
The Hoboken shop is particularly known for its late night hours. They remain open till 3am Thursdays through Saturdays. However, it’s uncertain how late the new Jersey City location will remain open.
Grubbs Take Away is the latest eatery to open near the Brennan Courthouse. In addition to Cafe Peanut, there’s also a new Chinese restaurant (Ling Long Xuan) and Churrasqueira Europa, which recently reopened a few doors away from the forthcoming Grubbs Take Away.
