Harborside’s million dollar makeover is almost complete. Mack-Cali recently previewed its revamped Harborside JC campus with renderings that depict a new pedestrian plaza, redesigned atrium, and plenty of outdoor spaces.
Harborside JC consists of five buildings with the newly redeveloped Harborside 1 being the main attraction. The 422,590 square foot, nine-story office building has received a new façade and its once antiquated lobby has been turned into a marketplace offering a mix of retail for professionals and residents alike. Meanwhile, Harborside’s surrounding areas are in the process of being revamped with a list of community events planned for the summer.
“I’m confident Mack-Cali’s reimagined Harborside will not only be a valuable addition to our growing business community, but now with all its additional activations and programming, the local neighborhood will also benefit greatly,” said Mayor Steven Fulop via press release.
Harborside JC’s new pedestrian plaza: Hudson Green
One of the first art installations planned for Hudson Green has already been installed courtesy of New York-based studio Hou de Sousa. The studio’s Ziggy sculpture, which was previously located in New York’s Flatiron district, has jumped the Hudson to Jersey City.
To take advantage of the new spaces, a new calendar of events has been set up on the Harborside JC website detailing outdoor performances by Nimbus Dance, drive-in movie nights, a new JC local market, and the debut of Smorgasburg Jersey City.
Whole Foods at Harborside
The return of District Kitchen
Harborside’s District Kitchen is making a comeback. The food hall will offer a variety of dining options from the likes of Modcup, Ani Ramen, Baonanas, The Belgian Plate, and more. Meanwhile, Hudson Alley — the corridor that faces the waterfront — will be transformed into a retail/marketplace with indoor and outdoor dining options.
