Spas, outdoor pools, and hair salons reopen in Jersey City

Pools and beauty salons reopen today

If you’ve been dying for a professional haircut — today is your day. Hair salons, barber shops, spas, tanning salons, and tattoo parlors can all reopen in New Jersey today.

Hair salons in Jersey City that will reopen this week include Salon 10N, Shampoo JC, and The Hair Room JC, to name a few. There will even be some new hair salons in Jersey City including Paloma Salon and The Hair Room Too — both opening their doors for the first time.

Spas (day spas and medical spas)

Tanning salons

Outdoor swimming pools

The state has issued some guidelines that business owners must follow. Governor Phil Murphy’s executive order states that business owners must perform health screenings — such as temperature checks — on clients and staff prior to entry. Also, services must be limited to appointment only. (No walk-ins). Clients must also wear face masks at all times (unless they’re face down on a massage table). Finally, employees and clients must maintain at least six feet of distances (unless they can be separated by physical barriers).

Outdoor swimming pools also reopening

In addition to personal care facilities, outdoor swimming pools can also reopen across New Jersey starting Monday, June 22. The executive order includes conventional pools, hot tubs, spas, and wading pools. The pools may be located in hotels, condos, and/or townhouses.

The NJ Dept. of Health has set forth guidelines for the reopening of pools. They include social distancing of six feet (even when you’re in the water) with the exception of immediate family members, household members, or romantic partners. Face masks must also be worn when on pool decks and lounge furniture can’t be shared.
