The string of restaurant closures in Jersey City continues. Not long after the closure of Sawadee, GP’s Hamilton Park has announced via its Instagram account that it will cease operations on January 5, 2020.
“As of January 5th 2020, GP’s Hamilton Park will be closing & making way for new ownership,” reads the restaurant’s Instagram post. “Sharing this journey for 8 years has been wonderfully rewarding & heartfelt. We’ve decided to evolve the GP’s brand by going back to our roots & focusing on our original location. So with love & gratitude we say farewell.”
Located at 236 Pavonia Avenue (opposite Rumba Cubana), GP’s Hamilton Park has been a fixture in the neighborhood for the past eight years. The cozy Italian restaurant has offered a mix of pastas, seafood, and brunch specials. The restaurant also has a sizeable outdoor area where customers have been able to dine al fresco. The restaurant’s patio area has included live music and even welcomed diners with pets.
The first GP’s restaurant originated in Guttenberg, NJ. That location will remain open as the sole GP’s eatery. GP’s Hamilton Park promises it will have one last farewell (i.e. New Year’s Eve party). Stay tuned for more details on GP’s New Year’s Eve party and on the new ownership of the GP’s venue.
