Newport residents have a new spot to get their daily pick-me-up. Frutta Bowls Jersey City has officially opened at 100 Town Square Place.
The Newport shop — located right outside the PATH Pavonia station — offers a mix of bowls, oatmeal, toast, smoothies, and coffee. The cafe only uses organic ingredients in their bowls. Their signature and namesake bowl (pictured) is made with organic açai berries, banana, granola, strawberries, pineapples, kiwi, Nutella, peanut butter, honey, and coconut flakes. (Pictured below is the “small,” which costs $8.49).
In addition to açaí bowls, Frutta Bowls also offers pitaya, kale, and oatmeal bowls. Customers can also choose from six different toasts, all of which are served on an Italian pannini. (Gluten free options are also available). The toast menu ($4.95 to $5.99) includes their own take on avocado toast as well as “The G.O.A.T.” — made with roasted red pepper, hummus, goat cheese, and basil.
The shop also has a loyalty app, which allows you to order ahead and earn points with every visit.
The Frutta Bowls concept was created by New Jersey native, Brooke Gagliano. In 2016, Gagliano opened her first Frutta Bowls cafe in her hometown of Freehold, NJ. Since then, the shop has expanded to other parts of the country. Frutta Bowls Jersey City has a small counter area and a few tables for dine-in customers.
They’re open 7 days a week, but they’re still in soft open mode, so you may want to give them a follow on Insta to see their hours.
