The Jersey City waterfront is fast becoming a food mecca. From Piggyback Bar to the monthly festivals, the plan to transform Harborside into a dining and entertainment destination is quickly taking shape.
Now comes news of a new food market joining the Harborside scene — New York’s Famous Food Market.
The family-friendly, open-air market, which operated in New York’s Upper West Side last summer, will come to Jersey City every weekend (Saturdays & Sundays) from June 16 through October 28. Famous Food Market will bring 30+ food vendors to the waterfront at 15 Second Street (the parking lot adjacent to the Lutze Biergarten), which has easy access to the PATH, Light Rail, and NY Waterway.
The market will include local eats, craft vendors, live entertainment, a game area, farmers market, butterfly zoo, and a 21+ beer/wine garden.
Past vendors have included MozzArepas (Colombian arepas), Gusti di Sicilia (Italian/desserts), C Bao (buns/bubble tea), Açai Ya Later (açai bowls), Bang Cookies (Heights-based organic cookies), Toum (Lebanese food), and In Patella (paella).
The food market will run weekends from 11:30am to 7:30pm. Its debut is slated for Saturday, June 16.
