Journal Square’s dining scene continues to expand. In addition to the forthcoming Emma’s and recently opened Freetown Road, Journal Square is now home to Falafel Station.
Located at 2828 Kennedy Blvd., Falafel Station is a fast-casual eatery offering a mix of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean street food. Like its namesake suggests, the eatery — which opened in December — specializes in falafel. However, here you can get a classic falafel as well as modern takes on the popular dish.
The menu gives you the option of choosing your falafel Italian/Rocket style (served in a hero), Mexican/Tortilla style (served in a tortilla), or served as a platter with yellow rice, salad, and pita on the side. You can also get your falafel “Street Fries” style, which comes with fries, feta cheese, and olives. Falafel Station even offers an “egg falagel” made with a boiled egg and feta cheese.
Other dishes include shawarma, kebabs, sandwiches, and some seafood options. There are also salads and sides, including a very delicious moussaka (tomato sauce with eggplant).
In terms of pricing, a classic falafel costs $4.50, whereas their “Mix Grill” plate costs $14.99 and includes kofta, chicken kebab, mix shawarma, falafel, rice, and salad. The latter is the most expensive item on the menu, otherwise; everything is priced comfortably under $10. Falafel Station also has some desserts like baklava and muhalabia forno, which is a form of ground milk pudding.
