A new taqueria just opened in The Village. El Ranchero Taqueria is now open at 382 Second Street. They’re located in the former Cafe Batata space between Brunswick and Monmouth.
The BYOB restaurant offers a wide variety of Mexican cuisine including staples like burritos, tamales, barbacoa, and tortas. However, their specialty will be tacos de birria. Hailing from the state of Jalisco, tacos de birria are traditionally made from goat, beef, or mutton that is simmered for hours. Fat from the broth is added to the tortilla to make it extra crispy. The juicy tacos are then stuffed with meat and cheese and served with a cup of consome that’s used for dipping your taco.
