Japanese restaurant DomoDomo is officially open in Jersey City. The restaurant is located at 200 Greene Street in the base of the Jersey City Urby tower.
The family-run eatery is the brainchild of brothers-in-law Brian Kim and Jae Park. They first opened DomoDomo in New York’s West Village in 2015. Last week, the restaurant won the Michelin Bib Gourmand award for 2020. (That’s four straight years for those keeping count). Michelin’s website describes the rating as a “value-for-money award” that proves “great food doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag.”
The restaurant’s menu offers a mix of sushi, hand rolls, hot dishes, and cold dishes. Prices range from $6 for a roll to $22 for a 6-ounce NY Strip. (All prices include gratuity).
DomoDomo is also known for its “DOMOKASE.” This omakase-style of dining gives chefs the freedom to choose your meal based on what’s fresh and in season. The Jersey City restaurant charges $60/pp for its chef’s choice 12-piece premium sushi course. A sushi and handroll course costs $50/pp. Both are available at the sushi bar only.
The Jersey City restaurant is now open for daily lunch and dinner. It also offers cocktails, sake, beer, wine, and Japanese whisky. You can check out DomoDomo’s menu below.
Nice! With Chef Tan having recently opened in Newport serving great quality contemporary sichuan and Yaso Tangbao opening soon serving highly rated modern fast casual Shanghainese, DT JC’s Asian offerings are finally getting good. Domo Domo should be a nice addition. Now, if only we could get good quality Korean, Thai and a Japanese Izakaya…
