The pandemic put social gatherings on pause for most of 2020 and 2021. However, now that New Jersey is emerging from its year-long lock down, restaurants that quietly opened during the pandemic are hosting official grand opening parties. One such restaurant is Casa Cubana Express.
The takeout cafe — which opened in January of this year — is celebrating its official grand opening this Wednesday, June 23. For its grand opening party, Casa Cubana will serve drinks and appetizers from 3pm to 6pm.
Located at 1007 Summit Avenue, the eatery offers Cuban comfort food with classic Cuban dishes like ropa vieja (shredded beef with Creole seasonings), arroz con pollo (chicken with saffron rice), and lechon (roast pork).
No Cuban cafe is complete with a classic Cubano, which Casa Cubana also offers. The sandwich is made with pork, ham, Swiss cheese, and pickles.
Orders can be placed directly on the restaurant’s website with pickup and local delivery. (They’re also on Seamless for orders outside of the Heights). Later in the summer, there will also be self-serve outdoor dining.
