Mark your calendars. The Jersey City Christmas tree and menorah lighting is slated to take place on Thursday, December 7. The event, which is hosted and organized by the Historic Downtown Special Improvement District (HDSID), will include a bounce house for kids and live performances.
Gifts will be given out to children in need courtesy of Smile Preschool and Nursery. (Parents must pre-register for the gifts via Smile Preschool’s form). Note that gifts will be distributed after the the tree lighting ceremony and will be based on the child’s age and gender. Once opened, gifts can’t be returned. Parents have until December 1 to pre-register for a gift.
The lighting ceremony will also include complimentary cookies, hot chocolate, and an appearance by Mayor Steven Fulop. The event takes place at the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza (at the stage next to Morlees). It’s free to attend and will commence from 5pm to 7pm.
