A new fast-casual restaurant from the Philippines just opened in Jersey City. Chowking just opened its first East Coast eatery at 393 Danforth Avenue in Greenville. The restaurant has taken over the former Jollibee spot. (Jollibee JSQ remains open).
Chowking is a Philippine restaurant with a Chinese-inspired menu. It’s known for popular dishes like its Beef Wonton Noodles, Meaty Asado Siopao (steamed Chinese buns stuffed with pork), and Lauriat Rice Meals. The company opened its first U.S. outpost in 1995 and now has 15 locations in 3 states, including California, Nevada, and Washington.

The Chowking menu features a variety of dimsum, rice bowls, platters, and noodle dishes. They also offer two signature desserts — halo-halo and taho.
