Fans of Bonchon’s fried chicken have a new flavor to try.

The South Korean-born chain recently unveiled “Sweet Crunch” — Bonchon’s first new flavor in the past 17 years.

According to company reps, the new sauce gives Bonchon’s fried chicken a “subtle honey flavor.” The sauce is reminiscent of dakgangjeong — sweet, crispy fried chicken coated in sticky sauce.

Taste-wise, we found Sweet Crunch to be sweet and a little tangy. The honey flavor is indeed very subtle and it’s balanced by a mild vinegar-like finish. Meanwhile, the skin is perfectly crunchy and very sticky. (You’ll need wetnaps).

Sweet Crunch is available at all Bonchon locations (including Jersey City). It joins current flavors Soy Garlic and Spicy.

Here in Jersey City, Sweet Crunch appears to be an option for in-store ordering only. Sites like Delivery.com don’t offer Sweet Crunch as an option yet. (Although you can definitely ask for it via phone orders).
