A new Haitian restaurant just opened in Jersey City’s West Side neighborhood. Located at 579 West Side Avenue, Bettie’s Restaurant is a BYOB eatery dishing out Haitian, Caribbean, and Latin cuisine.
Heading up the kitchen at Bettie’s is chef Benel Francois, who named the restaurant after his mother who operated a successful catering company in the Dominican Republic. Bettie’s is a celebration of her favorite dishes. The menu includes Haitian-style macaroni gratinĂ©e, plantain cups, as well as vegan and pescatarian options. If you’re unsure where to start, the restaurant also offers 5- and 7-course tastings.
Bettie’s is open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 5pm to 10pm. It’s also open Fridays and Saturdays from 5pm to 12am. You can follow them @Betties_Restaurant on Instagram for more updates or check out their website.
