Less than a year after its initial opening, the Bareburger at 143 Newark Avenue along the Pedestrian Plaza is calling it quits. In its place is Better Days JC — a new eatery and bar by the team behind speakeasy 143 Social. The restaurant officially opened on February 26.
An announcement on the door at the former Barburger describes Better Days JC as an American bistro that’ll be focused on elevated American fare that showcases the diversity and flavors of Jersey City. New signage for Better Days JC has gone up and there’s also an Instagram account and website you can check out for a look at its menu.
Better Days JC is officially open now and its food menu includes dishes like roasted cauliflower, scalloped duck fat potatoes, duck poutine, Spanish octopus, and Moroccan fried chicken. There’s also a variety of sandwiches and burgers. Drinks include a mix of signature cocktails, beers, and wines. 143 Social is one of our favorite speakeasies, so we’re especially excited to check out Better Days’ cocktails, which right now includes drinks like the Thai Spicy Margarita and the Nonna’s Sage Gimlet.
Bareburger fans can still order from Bareburger’s menu for takeout (from the Columbus Drive entrance) or delivery.
